I was just on the BMWRSM site and the Rally registration for their members starts tomorrow (Feb 1). Non-member registration starts on March 1. The Down Drown East is always a good rally despite the weather. Heck, there's even been some that were sunny and warm.

Anyone planning on going? I know I am.

Yes, the Downeast is a great rally, one of my favorites...but...why is the weather so miserable? After last year's Downeast I pretty much decided I wouldn't attend again unless the weather forecast was favorable. During the dozen or more times that I attended there were only a couple of years that the weather was nice for the whole three days, there were a few years where at least one day was spring like, but overall there were far more rainy, windy, and occasionally snowy days.

So...when I get up on Thursday May 17 I'm gonna check the weather forecast and if conditions are favorable I'm going. But if foul weather is predicted I'm staying home.

Am I getting soft or wise in my dotage?

Only if its not raining, between 20.5 and 22.5 degrees celsious, and the leather chaps still fit.

Ow mental image - pass the eye bleach.

I declare the flood gates officially open. I just registered (at least I think I registered) and paid my money. I used the on-line registration and the PayPal payment option. Worked well..... Well the money came out of my account.

I can virtually guarentee there will be rain.

We just have to remember that adventures suck when you're having them.

The perils of not booking vacation time as soon as possible (you retired guys wouldn't know about this). I have to attend a meeting the morning of May 17th - so won't be heading out for the Drown East until the early afternoon.

Blow off the meeting and get my A$$ fired? Twisted Evil That way I can leave earlier and it will be like I'm retired.

I hope it's a real important meeting, not just one of those routine run of the mill meaningless meeting that a couple of well composed e-mails wouldn't do just as well. The great thing about being retired is having a high degree of control over how you spend your time. Although I'm retired I still work two jobs and fortunately both allow a lot of flexibility.

You're day will come 1st. You'll love it!

John Dwinell and I left Sackville at 1:45 on Thursday. Made it to Freeport before 10:00. Had a great weekend. The weather was the best ever - sunny and warm. Whitehorse Gear was expecting to break their attendance record - sure looked like they would, we had to park next door.
Saw 28 degrees C on the ride home on Sunday (home by 7:00). No serious incidents, no serious acidents, and no "performance awards" from the Maine State Troopers (came close though).
