I received mine last night and it took less than an hour to install. The original part is NLA btw.

Mine was still working but several repairs to the traces, copper leads over the years had me concerned on every ride.

Nice improvement to the overall lighting and no more worries about the GEN light bulb failing and causing a flat battery.

With these parts being NLA and my less than perfect vision this product can help in not just being a replacement if the original fails, but also, an improvement for being able to see the trouble lights during the day. The old tiny incandescent
lights didn't put out might light at the best of times, so this would be a good upgrade, and potentially save a battery issue out on a ride.

They have instrument / dash/ signal parts for the airheads from the /6 on.

Sounds like a decent upgrade. Mine are working ok now but I have had to fiddle with it before and I do have a spare (but used) circuit board. The metallic ears have had to have been repaired in the past. One problem I have now is a shorter terminal for one of the oins in the rubber plug side on the harness side. I think it's the one for the high beam pin connection.

Given the importance (if I understand it correctly from what I've read in the past) of having this item working properly so that your charging system works properly, etc., I can see why you'd want a spare on hand. Now that new ones are no longer available that is likely a prudent approach.

Amedee when you say that you have a "shorter terminal", do you mean on the wiring harness or the circuit board?

Alan, yes the rubber plug on the harness side has terminals in it - the female type.
One of mine has corroded away I guess. I've had it working by making one out of aluminium foil tape and getting in onto the pin and when inserted in the plug it did make contact and when the high beam would be on I had the high beam indicator. Lately I guest it hasn't made contact and probably needs to be renewed. Not a perfect solution but way easier than replacing a piece of the harness.

Would it be possible to make a very short lead to bridge the connection?

I'm not a fan of using aluminum foil to transmit electricity, although I'm definitely no electrician and it might be an okay medium despite my misgivings.

Well, because it is a plug with many other 'terminals' it is hard to make a separate bridge connection.
At least that is my view at this point.

Guess I'd have to see it to get a better idea. Brain isn't working 100% today. Not to suggest that it actually does at other times either.
