Recently joined the Group. Made it to one of the Thursday nights at Chicken Burger and met a few guys whose names I already forget (must be an age thing)
Just got a 2015 R1200RT after 15 yrs on a HD. Loving it. Too bad the season is virtually at an end for the year.
Been riding for 40yrs+. Looking forward to the 2016 riding season and putting in some miles. Hope to meet most of the members at the 2015 Social on Dec 20/15
Ride safe and take care

Welcome aboard Ed!
Looking forward to seeing you on Dec. 20th.

As you can see, we've not been using this Forum much, I'm still trying to change that, and your future activity will help with that. ;-)

Which H-D model(s) did you have?

Like you, many of our members have been riding 40+ years, so we should definitely have much in common.

I'll be at the Chicken Burger tomorrow evening, but on my Ducati ST3s rather than the RT. I've just done some work on the bike this weekend past and need to take it for a run late tomorrow afternoon so I'll be riding a red bike with only the top 1/3rd of it's fairing installed. Need to do a little fiberglass repair over the winter so no sense in putting it all back together for it's season-end run. If I'm out riding after tomorrow again this year it'll be on the RT.

Regarding riding in 2016, we will try to get a schedule up this winter of the main rides, but I give you a quick overview of them:

February:
BMWONS AGM hopefully have a date set for announcement at the Dec. 20th social

April:
In past years we've sometimes done Tech Sessions which I'd like to try again, probably in April

May:
DownEast Rally in Maine

June:
The end of June is the Bluenose Rally just outside Kentville/Coldbrook. BMWONS host a Bavarian Beer Night.

July:
2016 BMWMOA International Rally - July 14-17, Hamburg, NY
I already have reservations for that and a friend is riding down from Toronto to attend the Bluenose Rally with me first and then we'll head to NY a few days later.

Northeast European Motorcycle Rally (NEM Rally)

August:
Wharf Rat Rally - members sometimes do a ride down to the rally

September/October:
Fall Colours Ride taround the Cabot Trail.

December:
Holiday Social - typically no one rides their bike to this, but who knows. Shocked

Aside from those we typically have member rides on either Saturdays or Sundays throughout the season, as members see fit. Often the route is planned by consensus among whoever shows up.

Had a Road King for 4 yrs and a Road Glide for 11 yrs. Traded the RG for the Beemer. With Friday forecast hoping to get out for an afternoon ride. I may drop by the Chickenburger tomorrow night as long as the temperature is not too low.

Definitely good bikes for piling on the miles, but I suspect you're finding the "wet-head" R1200RT sporty change.

Helped my brother pick up a 2012 Road King last year that I enjoyed the few times I rode it. For me, I'd use it on the 100-series highways and Interstates which aren't my preferred routes on any bike, hence the RT - capable and comfortable in both environments. If you do the NEM Rally sometime, I know a Ducati rider in Maine who also has a Road King that he's completely re-done the suspension on and actually turned it into a darn quick secondary road bike. Not easy to do, and not inexpensive, but it sure gives him grins.
