Hello.

Even if a lot of you know me I will introduce myself (let’s play the game of this forum).
I guess I rode my first motorcycle when I was between the age of 10-12 years old. We were buying old motorcycles and riding them in the fields. Needless to say, my parents didn’t know about it. This is really when I started to learn about fixing engines.
I bought my first new 360cc Honda in 1975. At the time, the cost was about $1800. After I burnt 2 heads, I decided to re-enginer it and discovered that months later, Honda made the same modification on their new models. Let me tell you that I was proud of myself.
While still living in Europe, I opened a motorcycle shop. I was a dealer for Italian bikes (Laverda, Ducati, Benelli, Guzzi) and Harley Davidson. During this time I owned and tried many of the top models (Laverda 1200, Guzzi 1000 LeMans, Harley 75th anniversary and café racer, Ducati 900ss, Yamaha XS 1100…). I also owned few sidecars. The last one was on a Suzuki 750GT (3 cylinders – 2 strokes). I became too crazy and was riding this sidecar the same as the racing hack. I sold it when one day I got some skid marks on my underwear. I almost rolled the hack over doing a U-turn at 80 km/h.
I rode bikes until 1987 and then stopped until 2000 (geting married and buying your first house is not compatible with riding motorcycles).
In 2000 I decided to ride again and bought my K75. On my way back from Montreal where I went to pick it up, I met John Engweiler and he introduced me to the BMWONS.
I have been involved with the club since this time. I have been vice president for 2 years, and president for a year.
Working in the IT sector, I was asked to participate to the development of the club web site and became the Webmaster.
In 2005, I bought a second BMW (K100rt). This became my spring/fall bike as you are so protected by the fairing that you will cook during the summer.

Hi Bert, thank you for taking the time to post an intro. It's easier for newbies like myself to start a conversation if I know a little bit about current and new members of this great BMW Newsgroup.
