My only other bike was 1981 Suzuki GS400 which I bought in '82 from the proverbial "little old lady man". I had my bike license for years before I bothered with a car license. It was a great bike and I owned it for 5 fun years and have many fabulous memories of lots of weekend trips camping and to the races at Luskville, Shannonville and Mosport and of 2 yearly summer pilgrimages from Ottawa, where I lived, to the Maritimes ...and I still have the tendonitis in my arms to prove it! It was on one trip East that I spent some time in the Halifax area and enjoyed it, and the people, I met sooo much I knew that is where I wanted to live.

My introduction to BMW’s came on one of my trips east where I toured with a guy who had one of the then brand new K100RS. I was hooked …..that bike looked and sounded unlike anything else on 2 wheels at the time. Imagine my huge disappointment when he wanted me to try it and one foot was tippy-tippy toe like a ballerina and the other foot swinging in the breeze! Needless to say I didn’t go anywhere. The next year I had an opportunity to try an R80 and an old Harley at the Island Rally and was surprised that I like the Harley over the R80 although I could almost flat foot the R80!

I was very sad to have to sell the trusty Suzuki when I moved to Toronto to go back to school in '87 . My immature aggressive riding attitude was not particularly suited for riding among T.O.'s very aggressive but woefully inept and discourteous drivers. Having already had one accident where I was temporarily paralyzed I wanted to avoid what I thought was surely guaranteed to be a repeat performance! While living in the Toronto area I tried to avoid all things BIKE and suffered terribly every spring and summer from bike fever .

After moving to Halifax in 2000, and getting settled .........I then got saddled, not with a bike at first, but in 2003 with a mortgage payment. A girls' got to have a garage to put the bike in! So after 18 years without a bike that I bought my BMW K75S from the US in September 2005.

My introduction to the club came when I was shopping around for my bike and needed to check the height of a lowered K75 for myself by actually sitting on one. I called Bert, the then president, and he got me together with a lowered K75 and has been my Guru ever since! Merci Bert! Although I'm a bit of a newcomer to the club I very much enjoy the get-togethers and the rides as I have been made to feel very welcome by all. Thank you all!

The guru and his buddy Bruce are so happy that we found you.....
The best thing that we did was to meet you and the custom guy at the ferry terminal in Yarmouth when you were bringing your bike back from the U.S.....
Was the custom guy ever looked pissed at us.... Sorry I cannot find the picture.... pirat

It was so nice to get another girl with a good sense of humour in the club. You may be allowed to stop riding, but certainly not to stop making us laughing loud.
It didn't take any time for you to get acepted by the whole group.
I remember taking you as a passenger before you got your bike and thinkng "I will convert her to BMW bikes". Well you were already converted before I met you.

Was there anything in particular that drew you to the K75S?

It was the reputation the K75 had as if not THE smoothest bike, then right up in the top of the list that sold me on the bike. I find it is soooo silky smooth that it doesn't really aggravate my tendonitis, even on long trips. I liked the sportier looks of the 'S' model much more than any of the other 750 models.

Yes, the K75 is very smooth, and has plenty of power. It's so well balanced that it rides like a bicycle.
I never had any other bike like this one. On the top of that, it's so cheap on gas (5 liters/100 kms).....
