Bill,
My 2 cents worth.
I just read your questions and the replies it generated on the http://bmwsporttouring.com website and I had had a similar thought when I first read your initial post, that you might have water in the oil. The beige color of the oil denoted water. I will get it occasionally in my final drive on my airhead, I think because of moisture getting in through the vent hole/port.

As suggested I would flush out several times and go from there. Did Atl. Motoplex identify as air in oil?
Air is usually just bubbles and should dissipate I would think.

Amedee , thank you for your reply. I went to shop and had lots of oil in bike , maybe too much ! They took old oil out and put new 20w50 in. Next morning they looked at oil thru bulb and saw the strange color. Then they drained it again , ran bike awhile and looked at glass again and oil was frothy again. The oil that was changed and drained was kept in a pan and all three mechanics agreed it was air.. Not sure of dissapation rate as we had to make back to C.B. that day. The day we went up was Wednesday and we drove thru heavy rain from Sydney to New Glasgow so there may have been opportunity for moisture to enter. Still , I would hope that staff were capable enuff to tell difference between oil and water. They were calling BMW rep for his thoughts when we hit the road. Expect to hear from them Tues/Wed. Bill
